Addendum to the StorageTek 9710 for the Tandem Environment
Configuring the Compaq System for the 9710 Automated Cartridge Subsystem

6.5.3 Tape Boot/Tape Load Considerations
How the system is configured affects what devices can be used for
tape boot. To perform a tape boot or tape load with a
T16/5155/5159 DLTtape Drive FRU, verify that the system is
properly set up to do it. For details, read “Using a T16/5155/5159
DLTtape Drive FRU for a Tape Boot/Tape Load”.
6.5.4 Modifying the MULTIFUNCTION_CONTROLLERS
Paragraph
Modify the MULTIFUNCTION_CONTROLLERS paragraph only
if connecting the T16/5155/5159 DLTtape Drive FRU to a MFC.
Use the following steps to add an entry to the
MULTIFUNCTION_CONTROLLERS paragraph of the
configuration file:
1. Specify the physical controller name of the MFC (the examples
use MFUNC1).
2. Specify 3681 as the product number (MFC).
3. Specify the processors that control the MFC (in the examples,
processors 1 and 0).
4. Specify the subchannel address of the MFC (in the examples,
%140 and %240). Use Table 6-6 to determine the subchannel
address.
