7.7.1.3 Slot
A slot is a labeled physical space in an enclosure into which a FRU
can be installed.
7.7.2 Identifying FRUs
FRUs in Himalaya S-series servers are identified by their physical
location. There are no subchannel addresses as there were in
previous Tandem systems. To locate any FRU, the following needs
to be known:
Group number The group number identifies all objects
connected through the service
processors (SPs) located on the
processor multifunction (PMF) CRUs.
For Himalaya S-series servers, this
includes everything in the system
enclosure.
Module number For Himalaya S-series servers, there is
only one module in a group, so the
module number is always “1”.
Slot number The slot number identifies a position
within a module. The slot number is
indicated by a label beneath the slot.
