If the adapter has F-SACs, the amber carrier LED
on each F-SAC should be lit when the fiber-optic
carrier is detected.
d. If the adapter still doesn’t appear in the view pane,
contact the service provider.
e. If the adapter appears in the view pane, but the color
changes to red or yellow, see Using TSM to Test a
6760 Adapter, SACs, and Attached Devices.
8.7.3 Comparing Physical Locations to Find Failing Devices
If there is trouble accessing multiple external disk or tape devices,
note the location of the devices to determine whether the common
point of failure is a 6760 adapter or one of its SACs. For example,
if $TAPE01-P,$TAPE02-P, and $TAPE03-P are all failing, and if
all three tape paths are attached to the adapter in group 1, slot 53,
issue the SCF command:
-> STATUS ADAPTER $ZZSTO.#SNDA.GRP-1.MOD-1.SLOT-53, DETAIL
This command also displays all the names, locations, and a state of
the paths of all the tape drives that are attached to that adapter and
SAC. If all device paths through a SAC are DOWN or
HARDDOWN, this probably indicates that the SAC is the single
point of failure.
