9.2.2.2 Bringing Up a Cartridge Tape Drive Using SCF
START Command (Sensitive Command)
Use the SCF START command to initiate the operation of an object
(make a stopped device accessible to user processes). Successful
completion of the START command leaves the object in a
STARTED state.
START Command Syntax
The syntax for the START command is:
START [ /OUT file-spec/ ] [ object-spec ]
[ , DEBUG $ terminal-name ]
[ , POOL $ pool-name ]
[ , SEL state ]
[ , SPECIAL ]
[ , SUB { ALL | MAGNETIC | VIRTUAL } ]
OUT file-spec
directs all SCF output generated (for this command) to the
specified file.
DEBUG $terminal-name
specifies that the process is started in debug mode against
the terminal supplied in the command.
POOL $pool-name
(DISK object only) specifies that only disks associated with
the specified storage pool should be started.
