• If a nonfatal error occurs, the revive operation does not proceed but
stalls or goes into a loop. The START DISK command continues to
retry at the current address until either the revive operation is successful
or the revive operation is suspended or stopped.
• For a brief description of what to do before reviving a volume and what
happens during a revive operation, see Reviving a Mirrored Volume in
the SCF Reference Manual for the Storage Subsystem.
Virtual Disk Related Considerations
• Before using the START DISK command for a virtual disk, verify that:
♦ The name specified must have a configuration record and a
definition with the SMF master process (both can be verified using
the INFO and STATUS commands).
♦ The NonStop Transaction Manager/MP (TM/MP) product must be
running on the system.
♦ The following must be in the STARTED state:
1. The SMF master process ($ZSMS).
2. The volume specified as the CATALOGLOCATION for the
MON process (must also be enabled by the NonStop
Transaction Manager/MP (TM/MP) product).
3. The storage pool process specified in the POOL attribute.
4. The CATALOGLOCATION volume of the storage pool
process must also be enabled by the NonStop Transaction
Manager/MP (TM/MP) product).
