Examples Using STOP DISK
The following are examples of the STOP DISK command.
To stop access to the mirror path of the $DATA01 volume, type:
-> STOP $DATA01-M
To stop the disk $DATA00 (even if there are open files) without
further interaction with the operator, type:
-> STOP $DATA00, FORCED
STOP DISK Considerations
Before using the STOP DISK command, consider the following:
If an attempt to stop a disk and the backup disk path is detected as
being unavailable, the disk will not be stopped.
Avoid stopping all paths to a volume that has open object files or swap
files for currently executing processes. Close these open files by
stopping the processes that are using them before stopping the volume.
If the FORCED attribute is not used, SCF will ask for confirmation for
any request to stop a disk when it is the last path to that volume.
NonStop Transaction Manager/MP (TM/MP) considerations:
If an attempt to stop all paths to a disk enabled by the NonStop
TM/MP product, the command is not performed and SCF displays
an error message.
A volume containing active audit trails cannot be stopped.
For more information about NonStop TM/MP, see the NonStop
TM/MP Reference Manual.
