• The last path to the system disk cannot be stopped.
• All paths to a volume that has open files without using the FORCED
attribute cannot be stopped. If attempted, the stop operation fails and
SCF displays an error message asking a confirmation on the request to
stop the volume although it has open files.
• If the FORCED attribute is used, all processes that use the disk to store
object code (programs) or swap files must first be stopped; otherwise a
%5113 halt could occur. For a description of this halt code, see the
Processor Halt Codes Manual.
• To determine the current status of the disk paths to be stopped, use the
SCF STATUS DISK command. For a description of all DISK object
states and substates, see Disk Object States and Substates in the SCF
Reference Manual for the Storage Subsystem.
Comparing PUP Commands With STOP DISK
In the G-series releases, the SCF STOP DISK command replaces PUP
commands.
