1.7 Strong Media
The tape media exhibits high durability and data reliability.
1.8 Compatibility
Compatibility within the 9710 Automated Cartridge Subsystems is
achieved via the Digital Linear Tape recording technology. The
DLTtape drive(s) Subsystems are the third generation of tape
products.
The 9710 Automated Cartridge Subsystem complies with the ANSI
standard for SCSI-2. The tape media format follows ECMA
approved and ANSI proposed standards.
The 9710 Automated Cartridge Subsystem is supported by the
CompacTape IV tape cartridge, the CompacTape IIIXT tape,
or the CompacTape III tape.
When tape density is selected via Mediacom, the 9710 Automated
Cartridge Subsystem reformats the cartridge recorded at 2.6, 6.0, or
10.0 GB format to the newly specified format and writes from
BOT.
1.9 Firmware Update Capability
The DLTtape drive(s) subsystems include Flash EEPROM
technology that allows easy on-site installation of microcode
updates from tape.
