Addendum to the StorageTek 9710 for the Tandem Environment

9710 ACS Tape Cartridge Silo Subsystem Fault Cases

1. A cartridge was inserted from the CAP incorrectly.

2. A cartridge was manually unloaded from the drive.

3. A cartridge that was loaded without a bar code.

4. A cartridge was manually inserted into the drive.

Note: This can only occur if the unit has been opened in service

mode. This cannot occur under normal operation.

When these conditions are present, the Operator Panel will

indicate the error by displaying “FSC XXXX” where “XXXX”

9710 ACS Tape Cartridge Silo Subsystem Fault Description

An Operator Panel fault indicates the 9710 ACS Tape Cartridge Silo

Subsystem detected a fatal error in either the robot hand assembly or a

tape drive. In some robot transfer assembly errors, the subsystem

retries the error three times before indicating failure. All robot faults

cause the Operator Panel to display an associated sub-code. Call
