• Each tape drive is shipped with a user’s kit containing the
following items:
♦ Read Me First card
♦ Blank data cartridge
♦ Cleaning cartridge
♦ Addendum to the StorageTek 9710 for the Tandem
Environment
2.4 Unpacking the 9710 ACS Tape Subsystem
To unpack the tape subsystem, use the following procedure. Refer
to Figure 2-1 and to the instructions on the outside of the shipping
crate as references.
Note: The 9710 Automated Cartridge Subsystem weights
approximately 760 lbs or 345 kg. When moving this unit additional
personnel may be required.
1. Cut the two straps on the exterior of the packaging.
2. While standing at the end of the carton, pull the cartons from
both ends of the unit. Then remove cartons from each side.
3. Remove the anti-static bag covering the modules.
4. If the unit is shipped on a pallet: Remove the bolts from beneath
the end piece and save them for use in Step 6.
5. Push the tall end of the ramp against the pallet to form an
incline. Insert the bolts in their pre-drilled holes to secure the
ramp to the pallet.
6. With one person on each side of the subsystem, slowly guide it
