9710 (StorageTek) Addendum for NonStop Servers
Addendum to the StorageTek 9710 for the Tandem Environment 
Unpacking the 9710 Automated Cartridge Subsystem and the Himalaya K-series Controllers 2-3 
casters, allowing it to move easily down the ramp and into 
position. 
A. Inspect for scratches, rust, or shipping damage. 
B. The following items are needed: 
• Drive FRU(s) with User’s kit box containing data 
cartridge, cleaning cartridge, power cord and Read Me 
First card 
• 9710 ACS Tape Subsystem with User’s kit box 
containing manuals, AC power cord, Bar Code Labels, 
Key and Read Me First card 
• Sun Server, ACSLS, Solaris and Manual 
• Box containing an MFC RS-232/SCSI BIC and copper 
cable for each drive FRU to be connected to an MFC 
8. Box containing a 3216 controller logic board, 3216 BIC, 
fiber-optic cable, and BEB enclosure for drive FRUs to be 
connected to a 3216 tape controller. 
9. Move the 9710 ACS Tape Subsystem into place. Note the 
service clearance information under “Service Clearance and 
Dimensions” refer to Figure 2.3.  
10. Chalk the cabinet caster wheels when the 9710 ACS is in 
the desired location. This procedure maybe delayed until 
the cable installation is complete. 
11. Connect the AC power cords to the AC input. Observe 
proper AC input for proper voltage.
