3.3  Before Starting 
 Installing the 9710 Automated Cartridge Subsystem requires no 
special tools. If the ID switch setting on the rear panel needs to be 
changed, a pen will be needed. 
If problems are encountered during the installation, see Table 2-4 
for troubleshooting. 
3.3.1  Installation Setup 
 The steps for installation setup are:

Choose a site for the 9710 Automated Cartridge Subsystem 
3  Use PUP to “Down” the controller(s) to which the 9710 Automated Cartridge 
Subsystem’s DLT tape drive(s) are to be connected. 
NOTE: For S-series installations, refer to Chapter 7 
3.4  Site Setup 
 The 9710 Automated Cartridge Subsystem will require one (1) 20 
 AMP AC power circuit for DLT drives 1 through 6 and second 20 
 AMP AC power circuit for DLT drives 7 through 10.
