3.7  Configure the 9710 Automated Cartridge Subsystem 
 This section describes configuration guidelines for the DLTtape  
 Drive(s) housed in the 9710 Automated Cartridge Subsystem 
 including SCSI ID settings. 
 The DLTtape (s) shipped with the 9710 Automated Cartridge 
 Subsystem are factory set to SCSI ID 5, unless otherwise 
 specified. 
3.8  Configuration Guidelines  
 The system uses the SCSI ID to identify, or address, the DLTtape 
 Drive(s) in the 9710 Automated Cartridge Subsystem. Follow these 
 guidelines when configuring the DLTtape drives for use on the  
 Tandem system(s): 
If the DLTtape drives are 
being installed as… 
Then . . . 
The only tape drive on the bus or one of 
multiple devices on the bus 
Be sure to use a SCSI ID 5 for the 
first tape drive and 4 for the second 
tape drive. The 5165 MFC supports 
ID 5 only, the 3216 supports ID 4 and 
5. 
The last or only device on the SCSI bus  Terminate the bus by installing a  
terminator on the last drive 
3.9  Changing the SCSI 
 To change the SCSI ID, locate the push-button switch on the rear of 
 the DLTtape drive FRU. Press the switch button(s) above or below 
 the number display (0-7) to set the desired SCSI ID. Press the top  
 button to increase the number or press the bottom button to decrease  
 the number.
