3.16 Connecting and Routing the Power Cords
An AC power cord connects the power supply in each drive FRU to
the PDU of the 9710 Automated Cartridge Subsystem. After
installing the AC power cord and connecting the drive FRU, route
the AC power cord through the cable harness guide. The excess
portion of the AC power cord can be stored in the cable harness
guide.
Use the following procedures to connect a power cord for each
5155/5159 DLT Drive FRUs in the 9710 Automated Cartridge
Subsystem. Start with the bottom-most drive slot and work up.
1. Open the side door of the 9710 Automated Cartridge
Subsystem. The door can be removed by sliding the door off the
hinge mount.
2. Locate the rail guides and insert the drive FRU into the 9710
Tape subsystem’s drive bays. Secure the drive in the bay by
turning the locking handles located each side of the drive FRU.
After power cords and copper cables have been routed into the
cable harness guides, the cable harness retainers are used to
secure the cords and cables.
3. Make sure that the BEB cable is connected to the correct drive
FRU.
4. Make sure the AC power switch on the drive is set to the OFF
(0) position. This prevents power from being supplied to the tape
drive accidentally.
5. Plug the power cord connector in to the AC receptacle at the
rear of the drive FRU.
6. Plug the other end of the AC power cord in to the PDU of the
9710 Automated Cartridge Subsystem.
