9710 (StorageTek) Addendum for NonStop Servers
Addendum to the StorageTek 9710 for the Tandem Environment
Installing and Configuring the 9710 Automated Cartridge Subsystem
3-29
If COUP is being used to add the subsystem to the system
configuration, the operating system image does not need to be
loaded. If COUP is not used, load the new operating system image
from the SYSnn subvolume created when the Install program was
run. Peripheral Utility Program (PUP) or Tandem Maintenance and
Diagnostic System (TMDS) commands cannot be used if the system
configuration has not yet been prepared using the Install program.
For instructions on loading the operating system, see the operations
manual for the system.
Note: The 5155/5159 tape drive should be configured as a 5190,
refer to Chapter 9 for details.
3.22 Placing the Tape Drives Online after Installation
After the 5155/5159 drive FRU(s) has been installed and the cables
have been attached, place the 9710 Automated Cartridge
Subsystem online. Use the following procedure for each drive FRU
in the 5155/5159 DLT drive FRU(s):
1. Verify that the AC power cord for the drive FRU is plugged in
to a circuit source.
2. Apply power to the drive FRU by setting the AC power switch
to the ON (I) position. See Figure 7-18.
4. Observe the power-up self-test on the Operator’s panel.
5. If the drive FRU is attached to a 3216 tape controller, verify
that power is applied to the BEB. (The green LED is lit when
power is on.)
6. Check the SCSI ID. (See “Checking and Setting the SCSI
ID”.)
