READCOMMAND
PTP provides the ability to interconnect a TR3271 subdevice directly to an AM3270
subdevice without an intervening application process (pass-through protocol).
A type of communications protocol, the QUOTRON protocol is used only in those
environments that have devices attached to a special controller concentrator. The
controller concentrator multiplexes the messages that flow from many QUOTRON
devices through one logical AM3270 subdevice defined in the AM3270 I/O
process. To alter QUOTRON devices, you must use the SCF ALTER SU
command.
QUO provides services to 327x terminals by way of QUOTRON communications
controllers. When you specify the QUO protocol, you must specify the Profile
modifier EOTIFNOREAD or set EOTIFNOREAD to On through SCF (the default is
RVIIFNOREAD). The EOTIFNOREAD results in the CLIP sending an EOT (End of
Text) indication to the controller concentrator when the number of times the
controller concentrator can retransmit data (which has received a NAK) has been
exceeded. The number of retries permitted is defined by the Profile modifier
RETRIES or by the SCF attribute RETRIES. The purpose of the EOT is to alert the
concentrator that none of the data responded to with a NAK has been accepted;
the concentrator must retransmit the entire data message. If you use the
RVIIFNOREAD attribute, which is the default, there is no way of being certain
which data has been accepted by the CLIP. This can result in data loss.
READCOMMAND
The READCOMMAND attribute specifies whether to accept Read Buffer and Read
Modified commands, reject Read Buffer and Read Modified commands, or Accept
Read Modified commands only. The READCOMMAND attribute applies to the
3270 Read Buffer and Read Modified commands:
The Read Buffer command works only with CRT subdevices. Due to a limitation in
the PTP protocol's implementation, if ALL is specified for a line that supports PTP
subdevices, Read Buffer commands for the PTP subdevices will be rejected.
Note: This is a TR3271 attribute.
Default: None
Range: None, All, or RDMOD
Objects: Lines
Profile Equivalent: READCOMMAND or NOREADCOMMAND
NONE Reject Read Buffer and Read Modified commands.
ALL Accept Read Buffer and Read Modified commands.
RDMOD Accept Read Modified commands only.
