Description of Device Status/Sense Bytes
7. Intervention Required (IR) indicates one of the following:
•
A command attempted to start a printer but found it not ready, so the printout is
suppressed.
•
The 3174 has received a command for a device that has been logged as
unavailable.
•
The 3174 has received an addressing or poll sequence for a device that is
unavailable during a printout.
•
A command tried to start a printer but found it not ready, so the printout is
suppressed.
8. Operation Check (OC) indicates one of the following:
•
The receipt of an illegal buffer address or an incomplete order sequence.
•
The device did not receive a CCC or a from address on a copy command.
•
The receipt of an invalid command sequence.
•
The internal buffering capability is exceeded on a 3174.
9. Transmission Check (TC) indicates that there is a communications problem. This
usually occurs on the physical line.
10. Unit Specify (US) indicates a device-detected error. US may also indicate that a
command has been addressed to a busy device.
