1 Configuration Quick Start
This section is a configuration quick start for the AM3270 and TR3271 subsystems.
This procedure explains how to set up the initial AM3270 or TR3271 processes on a
NonStop S-series server or on an Integrity NonStop NS-series server. For an overview
of the AM3270 or TR3271 subsystem, see the Section 2, Overview of AM3270 and
TR3271.
To help you complete the configuration tasks quickly, this section recommends you
accept the default values provided by the AM3270 or TR3271 subsystem. For
configuring devices of other configurations, please refer to the appropriate sections of
this manual.
Task Summary
Task 1: Add The PROFILE
Task 2: Add The DEVICE
Task 3: Start The DEVICE
Task 4: Add The Subdevices (SU)
Assumptions
This configuration quick start assumes that you have already configured and started
the WAN subsystem, as documented in the WAN Subsystem Configuration and
Management Manual. You cannot configure an AM3270 or TR3271 subsystem without
running a WAN subsystem.
For configuring and starting an AM3270 or TR3271 subsystem, you must define
objects to the WAN subsystem configuration database using SCF.
Task 1: Add The PROFILE
Use the ADD PROFILE command to specify the way AM3270 or TR3271 will work.
PROFILE is a set of device-specific modifiers with their default values added to the
WAN manager database. Use the ADD PROFILE command to add the PROFILE
parameters to the WAN manager database. The PROFILE for AM3270 is PAM3PROF
and that for TR3271 is PTR3PROF. Start by using the default profile, then make
changes later on, if necessary.
The following example adds the AM PROFILE.
ADD PROFILE $ZZWAN.#PAM3PROF, FILE $SYSTEM.SYS00.PAM3PROF
$ZZWAN is the name given to the WAN subsystem. The file referenced in the
command gives the location of the PROFILE.
