AM3270:Typical Configuration
Figure 2-1, Typical AM3270 Configuration shows a typical 3270 configuration for an
AM3270 line connected to the SWAN concentrator.
A program ($SYSTEM.CSSnn.C0039P00) downloads the AM3270 protocol to the
Communications Line Interface Protocol (CLIP) in the SWAN concentrator.
AM3270:Pass-Through Configuration
In Pass-Through Protocol (PTP) mode, AM3270 works with the TR3271
communications subsystem to connect an AM3270 subdevice directly to a TR3271
subdevice without an intervening application process. Use this capability to attach
subdevices controlled by AM3270 directly to another IBM, NonStop S-series server, or
Integrity NonStop NS-series server over the Expand network.
Figure 2-2, Example of AM3270 Pass-Through Configuration shows a typical pass-
through configuration. AM3270 devices t1 and t2 are connected to corresponding
emulated subdevices x1 and x2 on the TR3271 side, and data passed through to the
IBM-compatible host.
Joining Subdevices for Pass-Through Mode
To add subdevices to each line, use SCF to join the subdevices together to perform the
pass-through function.
