Configuration Prerequisites
In addition to getting general SCF information, you can obtain information about your
particular subsystem.
To obtain information on the AM3270 and TR3271 syntax of object types and the
commands that apply to them, enter either of the following commands:
HELP AM3270 [ command ] [ object-type ]
HELP TR3271 [ command ] [ object-type ]
To obtain information on the AM3270 and TR3271 errors, enter the following
command:
HELP AM3270 [ error # ]
Configuration Prerequisites
SCF can be used with an AM3270 or TR3271 subsystem only if the subsystem lines
and linehandler processes are first defined as device objects subordinate to the WAN
subsystem (Wide Area Network).
Object Types and Object Names
You can manipulate the AM3270 and TR3271 subsystems through SCF by entering
commands that act on one or more AM3270 or TR3271 subsystem objects. Each
object has an object type and an object name. The object type categorizes the object.
The object name uniquely identifies each object within the subsystem.
Object Type Definition
An object-type is a subsystem-specific keyword that identifies the type of object.
LINE, null, PROCESS, and SU are the object-types for the AM3270 and TR3271
subsystems. If you omit the object-type, the AM3270 or TR3271 subsystem may
attempt to determine the object-type. If an attempt to determine the object-
type fails, the AM3270 or TR3271 subsystem displays an error message. See
Appendix D, Error Messages for AM3270 and Appendix E, Error Messages for TR3271
for a list of AM3270 and TR3271 error messages.
Note. The online help facility is interactive; it cannot be invoked from a command file.
