Wild-Card Support
Wild-Card Support
The wild-card characters are the asterisk (*) and the question mark (?). * denotes any
number of characters; ? denotes any single character. When you use wild-card
notation, the first character of the name must be an alphabetic character, *, or ?. The
second, and any subsequent characters, can be any alphabetic or numeric character,
an *, or a ?. For a more complete description of wild-card notation, see the TACL
Reference Manual.
The AM3270 and TR3271 subsystems do not support wild-card notation at the
subdevice level.
Object-Specification Syntax
An object-spec is a combination of an object-type and an object-name.
Table 4-2 shows the AM3270 and TR3271 object-specs.
The object-specs for AM3270 and TR3271 have been incorporated into the syntax

Some AM3270 and TR3271 objects have an associated set of attributes that can be
defined or altered using the ADD or ALTER commands. Each of these attributes
identifies some characteristic of that object and has an associated set of values.
Depending on the action of the command, you may also be required to provide one or
more attribute specifiers (each consisting of an attribute name and value) to indicate
which of the object’s attributes are to be changed and what the new value is to be.
Default values exist for many attributes.
