AM3270 Management Programming Manual
 SECTION 1
 INTRODUCTION
This section describes management concepts applicable to the
AM3270 subsystem in the 6100 CSS environment. Although the
utilities available in a non-6100 environment are mentioned, this
section is oriented to the application programmer responsible for
managing the AM3270 subsystem in the 6100 CSS environment. Some
of the concepts discussed are the types of objects controlled
by the AM3270 subsystem and the available monitoring and control
 functions.
 BRIEF OVERVIEW OF AM3270
In the Tandem environment, the AM3270 access method provides
application programs with the ability to communicate with IBM
 3270-family devices.
AM3270 allows an application program on a NonStop system to
access individual physical devices attached to the system by
means of a bisynchronous multipoint communications line. The
multipoint line can support multiple IBM 3270-family cluster
controllers with IBM 3270-family terminals and printers config-
 ured for each controller.
 OBJECTS CONTROLLED BY THE SUBSYSTEM
The AM3270 subsystem controls a process, line, and subdevices
(SUs). The SU object can be added using various interfaces,
but cannot be defined to SYSGEN. The PROC (process) and LINE
objects, on the other hand, are defined at system-generation
time, but can be dynamically added or deleted using Configuration
 1-1
