Introducing the ASAP Extension
The ASAP Extension (ASAPX) is part of the ASAP product, which provides a network-
wide system monitoring, statistics collection, and presentation infrastructure for the
NonStop Kernel.
Using ASAPX you can collect, measure, view, and analyze application service-level
metrics to track the productivity, performance, and availability of applications. These
service-level metrics are automatically evaluated against predefined objectives to
establish alert priorities so system operators and administrators can quickly identify
when an application process is not meeting objectives.
This section briefly describes the overall ASAP architecture and gives detailed
information about the ASAP Extension architecture:
Overview of ASAP Architecture
ASAP contains three main components:
ASAP Client
The ASAP Client displays NonStop Kernel performance information and customer
application domain statistics through agent services and a workstation-based graphical
user interface (GUI).
Using ASAP, you can collect and analyze both real-time and historical network-wide
views of the performance of many entities. When ASAPX is present, application
statistics and domain service-level metrics are also available. Informational views can
encompass all NonStop Kernel nodes, reflect a selected set of nodes, or focus on a
single node, entity, or object.
