Ranking
Ranking
The ASAP Extension produces ranks for the metric versus objective comparisons it
performs using ASAP DOTs.
ASAPX supports the three different types of ranking that ASAP provides:
•
Standard ranking creates a rank based directly on a pass or fail comparison
against the objective.
•
Percentage-based ranking determines rank value by computing the percentage
amount the metric was over or under its objective values.
•
Historical ranking uses the percentage-based method to calculate the rank and
then sums it with the rank from the previous interval.
To determine the type of rank used by ASAPX, see the SET OBJECTIVESRANK
command in the ASAPCONF file.
Standard Ranking
Standard ranking uses a straight PASS or FAIL comparison against the objective value.
The OEM states produced by ASAPX when Standard ranking is in effect are:
Percentage-Based Ranking
Percentage-based ranking uses the percentage over or under an objective to
determine the OEM state for the metric. This table shows how ASAPX creates a metric
state when using Percentage-based ranking:

1 Exists The domain was not ranked by ASAPX. (Generated by ASAPX for all
ranking modes when no objective exists for a metric or when ranking is
disabled.)
2 OK No objectives were exceeded.
7 Critical An objective was exceeded.
8 Down The process that registered the domain is down. (Generated by all ranking
modes.)

State Alert Description
1 Exists The domain was not ranked by ASAPX. (Generated by ASAPX for all
ranking modes when no objective exists for a metric or when ranking is
disabled.)
2 OK No objectives were exceeded by more than 5 percent of the objective
value.
3 Low An objective was exceeded by between 6 and 14 percent.
