Migrating From ASAPX Release 1 to Release 2
1. Create new ASAPCONF and ASAPXCNF files. You can make a copy of your
existing files and modify them:
a. Remove any of these commands that appear in the ASAPXCNF file:
b. Remove the FORMAT command if it appears in the ASAPCONF file.
c. Add these commands to the ASAPCONF file as appropriate:
SET OBJECTIVESAUDIT—if you TMF audit the objectives file and domain
tables
SET OBJECTIVESDB—to define an alternate location for the objectives
database file (recommended)
SET OBJECTIVESRANK—if you want ranking other than standard
d. Add these commands to the ASAPXCNF file as appropriate:
SET AGGREGATE—to turn on domain aggregation
SET COLLECTOR—to turn on write-to-collector mode
2. Create new custom EDL definition files to describe each of your applications
(entities or subentities).
The entity name, as defined in EDL, must be the first part of the domain name.
3. Use the INFO, OBEYFORM command to dump all of your old ASAPX objectives in
an edit file:
+ INFO, OBEYFORM
4. In the edit file, change all ASAPX ADD commands to ASAP RANK commands.
Although ADD commands were applied against metric numbers, RANK commands
are applied to Domain and Attribute names.
5. Shut down ASAP.
6. Stop applications with active ASAPX domains.
7. Use ASAPX CLEANUP ALL to delete the old domain and objectives tables.
8. Replace the old ASAPCONF and ASAPXCNF files with the new ones you created.
9. Install ASAPX Release 2.
10. Reload objectives using the ASAP CI.
