DISK
The name of the DISK entity and also the command used to display DISK
data in the ASAP CI.
Domain
The name of an object or device within a subsystem. For example $DATA
might be the domain name for a disk device.
EDL
An acronym for the Entity Definition Language, a core set of instructions that
tells ASAP how to operate.
Entity
The way ASAP refers to subsystems that it monitors. ASAP entities are APP,
Comm, CPU, Disk, Expand, ExpandIP, File, Node, Process, ProcessBusy,
RDF, Spooler, Swap, Swapfile, System, Tape, TCP/IP (which has many sub-
entities including sub-entities for Telserv) and TMF. ASAP entities can also
be user-defined if the ASAP Extension product is used.
Event
An Event Management Services (EMS) event that ASAP can create based
on goals that have been defined for attributes.
EXPAND
The name of the Expand entity.
EXPANDIP
The name of the Expand over IP entity.
FILE
The name of the File entity and also the command used to display File data
in the ASAP CI.
GOAL
A goal is set on an attribute to tell ASAP how to alert, create an event and/or
execute an action based on the value for that attribute. For example, you
can set a goal that CPU BUSY < 90 which tells ASAP that all CPUs must be
less than 90% busy. If ASAP finds a CPU to be 90% busy or more, then it
will alert on that CPU. GOAL is also the command used to set goals within
ASAP using the ASAP CI.
History
The historical database maintained by ASAP.
Interval
The ASAP interval is the time interval at which ASAP wakes up to re-
compute attribute values for each of its entities. By default this value is set to
5 minutes but it can be as low as 1 minute or as high as 60 minutes. See
Rate for more information.
MONITOR
The command used to tell ASAP which domains to monitor within an entity
(subsystem.) In many cases ASAP will automatically monitor all domains
within an entity, in other cases you must tell ASAP which domains to monitor.
NODE
The name of the NODE entity and also the command used to display Expand
node data in the ASAP CI.
Objective
A synonym for a goal that can set on an attribute value.
PB
The name of the command used to display Busiest Process data in the ASAP
CI.
PROCESS
The name of the Process entity and also the command used to display
Process data in the ASAP CI.
