Next click on the Attribute tab of the Properties sheet. Here things get a little more
complicated but this is where you start to configure ASAP Client to exactly match your
needs. There are two things you want to do on this tab: first you want to select the attributes
you want to display; and second, you want to configure the y-axis of the the 3D graph of
attribute values so that ASAP Client will alert at the proper utilization threshold. (Note in the
next section you will learn how to turn off utilization thresholds and use more specific host-
based alerting techniques, but for now lets modify the graphs to be more useful for you.)
First select the CPU entity in the properties sheet (see the red arrow in Figure 4.) Then use
the window scroll bar (shown by the bright green arrow in Figure 4) to scroll down through
the list of attribute values. You can click on any attribute name to see what the value
represents. For example in Figure 4 the FreePgs attribute has been selected and it shows
that the attribute will show the number of free memory pages in the CPU. Notice the two
selections in the middle-right portion of the window, “Show Attribute in Grid” and “Show
Attribute in Graph” are not selected. That means the FreePgs attribute is currently not being
displayed in ASAP Client either in the grid (lower) or graph (upper) portions of the main
ASAP Client window. Select those options to show that attribute in the grid or graph areas
of the ASAP Client display.
Note: All attributes for all monitored entities are computed and evaluated against their goals
on your NonStop server system, regardless of whether they are displayed on any ASAP
Client.
Note: For any attribute to create an alert in the ASAP Client it MUST be shown in the ASAP
