ASAP 3.0 QuickStart Guide

HP NonStop ASAP QuickStart Guide Page 30 of 35
in the graph will always represent the attribute that is alerting when this selected. Please
see Figure 9 for an illustration of this setting for the CPU BUSY attribute.
Figure 9 - Setting CPU BUSY to Use State..Graph State
The next set of illustrations show how changing the State Determination setting will affect
the Graph display. In this case there are 2 goals that have been set on the host for the CPU
Busy attribute:
GOAL CPU, BUSY < 95
GOAL CPU, BUSY > 35
These settings tell ASAP Server that all CPUs must be greater than 35% busy and must be
less than 90% busy. Note that all of the CPUs are meeting their host-based goals except
CPU 3. It is only 30% busy.
Figure 10 show hows the Graph looks when the Use Thresholds setting is used. ASAP
Client is ignoring the host-based goals and is displaying the data based on the Client’s
threshold settings. A user would think that CPU 0 was the problem here, but based on the
host-based goal settings CPU 0 is fine, it is CPU 3 that isn’t meeting its goal.
