ASAP Installation and Configuration
Installation
The ASAP 2.0 Server installation process is conceptually similar to NSX installation.
ASAP 2.0 is an Independent Product distributed on two CDs, one containing the ASAP
Client, the other containing ASAP Server. The IPSETUP process guides you through
steps that transfer the ASAP Server files from the CD to your NonStop Kernel system.
You install the ASAP Server components with a SeeView script. This script installs both
the central and remote node components. You must have additional server licenses to
install on remote nodes. To run the SeeView script, you must OBEY the INSTALL file.
Once you run the script, ASAP is installed and ready to start. For detailed installation
instructions, see the ASAP Server Manual.
Because there is no block-mode interface to ASAP, there are no TACL macros to set up
and install the Pathway environment as OMF requires.
Startup and Shutdown
Startup and Shutdown Commands
To start up and shut down an ASAP environment, use the ASAP STARTUP and
SHUTDOWN commands. This is similar to NSX. These commands let you quickly start
or stop all the ASAP components on the network:
The ASAP collector on the central node
The ASAP monitor and the Statistics Gathering Processes (SGPs) on the central and
the remote nodes
To start a collector on the local node, then start remote monitors and SGPs on remote
nodes:
+STARTUP COLLECT
+STARTUP \Chicago
+STARTUP \Houston
+STARTUP \Sanfran
