Terminal Modifiers
BSCRT
This modifier specifies that the terminal is a video terminal for which each backspace is
echoed. The backspace character must be a signal character.
If the terminal does not erase when backspacing, the deleted characters are still
displayed on the screen.
BSERASE
This modifier specifies that the terminal is a video terminal that replaces the backspace
character with the sequence <BS><space><BS> to erase the backspaced character.
The backspace character must be a signal character.
Some modems may not be able to keep up with a repeating backspace key. If the use
of a repeating backspace key causes unwanted characters to display on the screen, try
the BSCRT modifier instead.
BSHARD
This modifier specifies that the terminal is a hard-copy terminal that backspaces when
a backspace character is entered. The backspace character must be a signal
character.
CHAR n
This modifier specifies the number of data bits representing each character. Specify
CHAR7 or CHAR8 for ASCII transmission.
For 6520 and 6530 terminals, the character size (7 or 8) plus the parity size (1 or 0)
must total 8 bits.
Application: All terminals except 6603 and 6604
See also: BSERASE, BSHARD, NOBS
Application All terminals except 6603 and 6604
See also: BSCRT
Application 6603 and 6604 terminals only
See also: NOBS
Application: All terminals
Default: All terminal profiles specify 7 data bits (CHAR7)
Units: Bits
Range: 5 through 8
See also: CHECK, EVEN, NOCHECK, NONE, ODD
