MODEMDISCERROFF
This modifier disables console message 165 (with a CLIP status of 5).
MULTI $dev-name
Typically, the WAN subsystem creates an I/O process (IOP) for each line interface unit
(LIU) on a SWAN/SWAN 2 concentrator; however, you can direct the WAN subsystem
to create a single IOP for multiple LIUs by specifying this modifier. Use this modifier
whenever possible to minimize the number of IOPs, which will reduce operating-
system overhead. This is important during normal execution, but it is especially
important during path switches between processors.
To specify the MULTI modifier, follow the instructions below:
Determine the set of lines on the SWAN/SWAN 2 concentrator to be managed by a
single IOP (it can be any value in the range 1 through 6).
Specify the MULTI $dev-name modifier for the second line in the set, where
$dev-name is the logical device name of the first line in the set (and of the single
IOP managing the LIUs).
Specify the MULTI $dev-name modifier for the remaining LIUs in the set.
You can use this modifier to create a single IOP for six lines on the SWAN/SWAN 2
concentrator, but you cannot use it to create a single IOP for lines on two or more
paths or concentrators. In other words, the logical device name specified by the MULTI
modifier must identify a line on the same concentrator as the line for which the MULTI
modifier has been specified.
NAME #subdev-name
This modifier specifies a unique, user-defined subdevice name for a terminal.
Application: All terminals
Note. Do not use MODEMDISCERROFF on an individual subdevice.
Application: SWAN/SWAN 2 concentrator
Application: All terminals
Default: #subdev-name = #TERM
Range: One through seven alphanumeric characters; first character must be
a letter.
