PRINTER PROGRAMMING CONSIDERATIONS

Cabling Recommendations

When connecting DTR printers directly to the host (no modems),

use the following pin-to-pin connections:

HOST PRINTER

FG 1 ---------------------------- 1

TXD 2 >--------------------------< 3

RTS 4 >--------------------------< 5&8 *

CTS 5&8 <-+----------------------+-> 4 *

SG 7 ---------------------------- 7

* The printer might or might not monitor these signals.

** Signal names and pins depend on the type of printer. For

example, the busy signal need not be defined as DTR (pin 20).
