Dynamic System Configuration (DSC) utility
Dynamic System Configuration (DSC) utility. An HP utility that allows users to
reconfigure an operating system online, without having to run Install to create a new
system.
EGEN. A TAL routine generated by Event Management Service (EMS) FastStart from an
application configuration file (ACF) to provide a high-level interface for building EMS
event messages. See also Event Management Service (EMS) FastStart and
application configuration file (ACF).
EMS. See Event Management Service (EMS).
EMSA. See Event Management Service Analyzer (EMSA).
EMS collector process. See collector process.
EMS distributor process. See distributor process.
EMS FastStart. See Event Management Service (EMS) FastStart.
encapsulation. A technique that combines data and code into one module. It allows other
modules to be insulated from the implementation details of the module.
Enform. A report generator.
Enscribe database record manager. HP database-management software that provides a
record-at-a-time interface between servers and a database. See also NonStop
Structured Query Language/MP (NonStop SQL/MP).
entity. A resource that the Measure product gathers statistical information on. See also
Measure.
environmental outage class. An outage class that includes failures in power, cooling,
network connections, natural disasters (earthquake, flood), terrorism, and accidents.
error-correcting codes (ECC). A technique for correcting single-bit memory errors.
error detector. A conditional statement inserted in a piece of code to detect an error.
Event Management Service Analyzer (EMSA). A conversational interface that is used to
select and analyze events from EMS log files. Selection criteria include subsystem ID,
event number, text, and start and stop time.
Event Management Service (EMS). The processes, procedures, and utilities used to report
and log events; to forward, print, and distribute event messages to applications; and to
filter, retrieve, and obtain information from event messages.
Event Management Service (EMS) FastStart. A program to generate and test EMS event
messages; based on the TACL language. See also EGEN and application
configuration file (ACF).
