partial SYSGEN phase
partial SYSGEN phase. A procedure that may be able to help you to reduce the impact of
interim product modification (IPM) installation on system and application availability.
The partial SYSGEN phase does not require a system load and may also eliminate the
need to stop your applications.
partition. The portion of a table or index that resides on a particular disk volume.
PATHCOM. The interactive administrative interface to the NonStop Transaction
Services/MP core service and the optional Pathway/TS software. See also NonStop
Transaction Services/MP.
PATHCTL file. The PATHMON configuration file. The NonStop TS/MP central control
process (PATHMON) stores the definitions and status information for each object
controlled by PATHMON in the PATHCTL file.
PATHMON process. The central control process for the NonStop TS/MP transaction-
processing core service and the optional Pathway/TS software, which together form the
Pathway environment. The PATHMON process controls all processes and devices in the
Pathway environment and provides the means to configure, manage, monitor, and
change the configuration of the Pathway environment.
PATHMON-controlled objects. Entities that are subject to independent reference or control
by the PATHMON process. The objects controlled by PATHMON are PATHMON,
PATHWAY, TCP, SERVER, PROGRAM, and TERM.
Pathsend procedures. A set of operating system procedure calls that provide general access
to Pathway server classes from any process on a NonStop system.
Pathway environment. The programs and operating environment required for developing
and running online transaction-processing (OLTP) applications. This group of tools is
packaged as two separate products: NonStop TS/MP and the optional Pathway/TS
software. See also NonStop Transaction Services/MP (NonStop TS/MP) and
Pathway/TS.
Pathway/TS. A Tandem product that provides tools for developing and interpreting screen
programs to support OLTP applications in the Guardian operating environment. See
also NonStop Transaction Services/MP (NonStop TS/MP) and Pathway environment.
Pathway Open Environment Toolkit (POET). A client/server product that works with the
Remote Sever Call (RSC) product to enable you to create and run client/server
applications where the client is a Microsoft Windows program. POET streamlines the
development of Microsoft Windows clients for use with Pathway servers by providing a
higher-level interface to RSC.
performance management. Activities that manage the performance of the production system
and network environment to ensure that the systems meet the business needs defined by
operations service-level agreements. One of the operations disciplines in the operations-
management model.
