Network Statistics Extended (NSX)
Network Statistics Extended (NSX)
Tandem Network Statistics Extended (NSX) is a NonStop operating system network
performance monitor that collects and displays processor, process, and Expand process
statistics from other NonStop systems operating in a Tandem network.
NSX monitors and reports high-level, real-time network statistics from multiple network
nodes to one or more locations within that network. In addition, NSX collects and
reports on the busiest processes in each processor in all monitored systems.
How NSX Works
NSX collects performance statistics data with a set of Monitor and Collect processes
operating on selected nodes within the network. A Monitor process in each node reports
statistics for its node to a Collect process, which maintains the statistics in the NSX
database.
You can configure both Monitor and Collect processes on one or more nodes throughout
the network. You can centralize data collection to a single node, or on to groups of
regional nodes, or you can completely distribute it so that each individual node in a
network has its own NSX statistics database. Figure 9-6 illustrates the NSX architecture.
