SYSGEN
SYSGEN. The utility program used by Install to generate an operating system image for a
given hardware and software configuration.
Systems Network Architecture (SNA). The prevalent IBM communications model.
Syshealth. A maintenance and diagnostic software package that polls devices and monitors
system events on Tandem NonStop systems. When a problem occurs, Syshealth
generates an alarm describing the problem and sends notification to a remote site.
TACL. See Tandem Advanced Command Language.
Tandem Advanced Command Language (TACL). A powerful, extended command
interpreter for the Tandem NonStop Kernel operating system that enables you to perform
work on NonStop systems.
Tandem application environment. An environment that enables you to develop and run
high-performance, high-volume, online transaction processing (OLTP) applications on
NonStop systems. Pathway, NonStop SQL/MP, and NonStop Transaction Manager/MP
(TM/MP) are the three key products that make up the Tandem application environment.
Tandem CD Read. A Tandem product for viewing Tandem manuals and Tandem softdocs
online. Tandem CD Read consists of a set of manuals and softdocs on a compact disc
(CD), together with viewing software that allows you to search, read, and print copies of
any part of any manual or softdoc in the set.
Tandem Failure Data System (TFDS). A component of the Tandem NonStop Kernel. This
tool isolates software problems and provides automatic CPU failure data collection,
diagnosis, and recovery services.
Tandem Maintenance and Diagnostic System (TMDS). A diagnostic software tool that
continuously monitors the hardware components of a Tandem system and diagnoses
system problems before they affect the system’s performance.
Tandem NonStop Kernel . The operating system for NonStop systems, which consists of the
core and system services. The operating system does not include any application
program interface.
Tandem Object Monitoring Facility (OMF). A Tandem product that enables operators to
supervise objects such as CPUs, disks, files, and processes within the Tandem
environment.
Tandem Performance Data Collector (TPDC). A Tandem host-based performance data
collection product.
TCP. See Terminal Control Process.
Terminal Control Process (TCP). A multithreaded process supplied with Pathway that
interprets and executes screen program instructions for each input/output (I/O) device or
process the TCP is configured to handle. The TCP coordinates communication between
