Monitoring Performance
Network Statistics Extended (NSX)
NSX collects and displays processor, process, and Expand process statistics from other
NonStop systems operating in a Tandem network. NSX monitors and reports network
statistics from multiple network nodes to one or more locations within that network. In
addition, NSX collects and reports on the busiest processes in each processor in all
monitored systems.
NSX and the Object Monitoring Facility (OMF) have been enhanced to provide an
integrated network-wide view of both the performance and status of the objects in your
Tandem network.
Tandem Performance Data Collector (TPDC)
TPDC is a performance, data collection, and relationship product. TPDC significantly
reduces the expertise and manpower required to collect performance data. Using
TPDC, you can collect performance information that might indicate a potential resource
problem that can cause an unplanned outage. A sample Device Distribution Report,
which summarizes the devices on the system and gives a high-level view of how the
system is configured with respect to I/O devices, is illustrated below.
ViewSys
ViewSys displays processor performance statistics and resource consumption for a set
polling period. Viewing the resource allocations across processors on a running system
allows you to balance the application load more evenly. ViewSys can help you decide
when to move user processes to less busy processors and disk volumes or when to
relocate partitions to less busy disk volumes. It updates the numbers automatically at the
end of each polling period, which allows you to evaluate the effects of changes as those
changes are made.
