Event Monitoring Tools
Event Monitoring Tools
In addition to the basic event monitoring capabilities of EMS, Tandem provides the
Tandem Service Management package (TSM) EMS event viewer and the CA-Unicenter
for Tandem Event Management function for monitoring event messages.
EMS Collectors, Distributors, and Filters
EMS provides basic tools you can use to selectively monitor messages from specific
sources. You can use the EMS filter language to create filters that, when installed in a
collector or distributor, selectively pass or reject messages based on the filtering criteria.
You can use this capability to selectively route messages to various destinations, and
even run dedicated collectors and distributors for various message classes.
TSM EMS Event Viewer
The TSM EMS Event Viewer assists you in performing many of the tasks associated
with viewing and monitoring various event logs. Some of the features provided by the
TSM EMS Event Viewer include:
•
Serial, summary, expanded, and detailed views of events
•
Multiple event sources, including merged and imported logs
•
Flexible event selection capabilities (including by subsystem, device, priority, as
well as an exclusion function)
•
Flexible event display (single line, full detail, token selection, color/emphasis
encoding)
•
Filter manipulation functions to refine and focus a view of the events
•
Ability to define and save views
The TSM EMS Event Viewer is launched from within the TSM application.
CA-Unicenter for NonStop Servers—Event Management Function
The CA-Unicenter Event Management facilities provide for integrated message
management across a heterogeneous network environment. This function makes it easy
to:
•
Identify events that require special handling
•
Automatically detect events and initiate response actions
•
Route messages to central monitoring nodes in a network
You can, for example, distinguish among production control messages, security
messages, and problem messages, and route each type of message to a different
monitoring console.
