Step 3: Configuring User Security
Step Action Comments
1. Type an IP address in the IP
Address text box if you want this
user to be assigned a unique IP
address when he or she connects to
the AWAN access server.
Use the IP address recorded on the IP Address
line (if any) of your Dial-In User Worksheet
for this user.
If you do not type an IP address (the IP
Address text box is set to zeros), the port IP
address (if there is one) is assigned to this
user. Configuring port IP addresses is
described in Step 2: Configuring Security
Protocols for a Port on page 7-15.
For information about other methods of IP
address assignment, refer to Determining IP
Address Assignments for Users on page 7-3.
2. Set the disconnect and idle timeouts
for this user by typing values in the
text boxes provided in the
Disconnect area.
The disconnect timeout causes a user to be
disconnected from a port after a specific
number of minutes whether or not the port is
active. The idle timeout disconnects a user if
the port is idle for a specified number of
minutes. A zero value disables the disconnect
timeout.
Default: Zero minutes for both timeouts.
3. Configure the dialback mode by
choosing a mode from the Dialback
drop-down list box.
Use the dialback mode recorded on the
Dialback Mode line of your Dial-In User
Worksheet for this user. Dialback modes are
explained in Determining the Dialback Mode
for Dial-In Users on page 7-3.
4. Enter a phone number for dial-back
in the Phone Number text box if
you chose Allow, Require, or
Secure from the Dialback drop-
down list box.
5. Click OK. The User Database dialog box is displayed as
shown in Figure 7-7
.
