Configuring Port Access
To configure port access, you must perform the following steps:
1. Enable the appropriate protocols for each port.
2. Configure security for each port.
3. Reset the port.
Step 1: Enabling Protocols for a Port
To enable a protocol for a specific port, choose Properties... from the Port-Specific
menu. The Port Properties screen is displayed with the Modem tab active. Click on the
Protocols tab to display the Protocols tab dialog box. The Protocols tab dialog box is
shown in Figure 7-8.

Note. Port protocol settings have priority over user protocol settings. For example, if PPP is
disabled on a port, no user—not even one who is enabled for PPPcan dial into that port
using PPP.
