Step 2: Configuring Security Protocols for a Port
Step Action Comments
1. Click the option button for each
protocol recorded for this port on
your Port Configuration Worksheet.
For information about how to select
protocols for a port, refer to Determining
Protocols for Ports on page 7-4.
2. Click the check box next to each
security protocol recorded for this
port on your Port Configuration
Worksheet.
For information about how to select
protocols for port security, refer to
Determining Protocols for Port Security on
page 7-4.
3. If you did not configure an IP address
for each user and you want users who
access this port to be assigned the
port IP address, type an IP address in
the IP Address text box.
For information about other methods of IP
address assignment, refer to Determining IP
Address Assignments for Users on page 7-3.
4. For AppleTalk connections, click the
Allow Guest Logins check box if you
want users to be able to use a guest
login over Apple Remote Access
(ARA).
5. For NASI remote-control
connections, type the default line
speed in the text box provided.
The line speed is preset to 38400.
6. The Timeouts area provides text
boxes that enable you to set the
disconnect and idle timeouts for the
port.
•
The disconnect timeout causes a
user to be disconnected from the
port after a specific number of
minutes whether or not the port is
active.
•
The idle timeout disconnects a
port if it is idle for a specified
number of minutes.
Each protocol can have a different timeout
setting.
Default: Zero minutes for both timeouts.A
zero value disables the disconnect timeout.
7. If you are configuring multiple
protocols, click Apply after each
protocol has been configured.
8. Click OK to exit the dialog box.
