Configuring a Telserv Process
Configuring a Telserv Process
Configuring a Telserv process to provide access for AWAN access server-attached
terminals or workstations involves the following steps:
1. Identify or create the Tandem NonStop TCP/IP transport process.
2. Specify the Tandem NonStop TCP/IP transport process.
3. Specify additional parameters.
4. Create and start the Telserv process.
5. Add services and windows to the Telserv process.
Step 1: Identifying or Creating the TCP/IP Transport Process
Before you can configure a Telserv process, you must identify or create a Tandem
NonStop TCP/IP process to be used as the transport process. You can configure multiple
Telserv processes to use the same Tandem NonStop TCP/IP transport process.
Because most Tandem NonStop servers already have one or more Tandem NonStop
TCP/IP processes configured, it is usually not necessary to create a Tandem NonStop
TCP/IP process specifically for your Telserv process. You can use the SCF LISTDEV
command to display the names of all the Tandem NonStop TCP/IP processes configured
on a Himalaya NonStop server.
Example 8-1
shows an SCF LISTDEV command display. Tandem NonStop TCP/IP
processes are type 48.
If an available Tandem NonStop TCP/IP process does not exist, you must create one.
Creating a Tandem NonStop TCP/IP process is described in the TCP/IP Configuration
and Management Manual (for Himalaya S-series servers) or Tandem NonStop TCP/IP
Configuration and Management Manual (for Himalaya K-series servers).
