Configuring a Telserv Process
Displaying IP Addresses
Each Tandem NonStop TCP/IP process may be associated with one or more SUBNET
objects. Different SUBNET object types may be supported; for example, Ethernet,
Token Ring, and Asynchronous Transfer Mode (ATM) SUBNET object types are
supported on Himalaya S-series servers.
The Ethernet SUBNET object associates a Tandem NonStop TCP/IP process with an IP
address. During AWAN access server port configuration, you specify the IP address
associated with an Ethernet SUBNET object on the Tandem NonStop TCP/IP process
that provides the transport for your Telserv process.
You can use the SCF INFO SUBNET command to display the SUBNET objects
configured for a Tandem NonStop TCP/IP process. Example 8-2
shows an SCF INFO
SUBNET command that displays all the configured SUBNET objects for the Tandem
NonStop TCP/IP process named $ZTC0.
The SUBNET object type is displayed in the TYPE field and its associated IP address is
displayed in the IPADDRESS field. As shown in Example 8-2, an Ethernet SUBNET
object named #EN0 is configured with an IP address of 155.186.70.123 on the Tandem
NonStop TCP/IP process named $ZTC0.
If an Ethernet SUBNET object is not configured for the Tandem NonStop TCP/IP
process you want to use as the transport process, you must add one using the SCF ADD
SUBNET command. The SCF ADD SUBNET command is described in the TCP/IP
Configuration and Management Manual (for Himalaya S-series servers) or Tandem
NonStop TCP/IP Configuration and Management Manual (for Himalaya K-series
servers).
Note. In this context, the term subnet has a meaning that is unique to the Tandem product. It
is separate and distinct from the term subnetwork.
Example 8-2. Sample SCF INFO SUBNET Command
3-> info subnet $ztc0.#*
TCPIP Info SUBNET \COMM.$ZTC0.#*
Name Devicename *IPADDRESS TYPE *SUBNETMASK SuName QIO *R
#LOOP0 \NOSYS.$NOIOP 127.0.0.1 LOOP-BACK %HFF000000 OFF N
#EN0 \COMM.$LAM12 155.186.70.123 ETHERNET %HFFFFFC00 ON N
#SN2 \JULIE.$AM1 172.16.192.20 ATM %HFFFFFF00 ON N
Worksheet Instructions. Record the IP address associated with the Ethernet SUBNET object
on the IP Address line of the Asynchronous Terminal Port Configuration Worksheet. A sample
completed worksheet is shown in Figure 8-2 on page 8-16.
Note. Because the Tandem NonStop TCP/IP subsystem provides a Domain Name Resolver
(DNS) to translate IP addresses to host names, you might be able to specify a host name
instead of an IP address during AWAN access port configuration.
