Configuring a Telserv Process
NAME $telserv-name
is the name you want to assign to the Telserv process. The name must start with a
dollar sign ($) and may be followed by up to five alphanumeric characters. The first
character following the dollar sign must be a letter. Telserv processes are typically
named $ZTN1, $ZTN2, and so forth. This parameter is required.
NOWAIT
means that TACL will not wait while the program runs but will return a command
input prompt after sending the startup message to the new process. If this option is
omitted, TACL pauses while the program runs.
HIGHPIN { ON | OFF }
specifies that the Telserv process will run at a high PIN (ON) or at a low PIN (OFF).
If this option is omitted, the Telserv process will run at a high-PIN.
CPU num
specifies the number of the processor where the Telserv process will run. If this
option is omitted, the process will run in the same processor as TACL.
PRI pri
specifies the priority at which the Telserv process will run. You may specify an
integer in the range 1 to 199. If this option is omitted, the new process priority is 1
less than the priority of TACL.
port-num
indicates the port number to be used by the Telserv process. When a single Tandem
NonStop TCP/IP process is used by multiple Telserv processes, each Telserv process
must be configured to communicate over a unique TCP port. If this option is
omitted, TCP port 23 will be used by default.
To display the TCP port numbers that are already in use on a particular Ethernet
SUBNET object, use the SCF STATUS PROCESS command. An example of an
SCF STATUS PROCESS command is shown in Displaying TCP Port Numbers
on
page 8-10.
-BACKUPCPU num
specifies the processor in which the backup process will run if you want the Telserv
process to run as a NonStop process pair. If this option is omitted, the Telserv
process will not run as a NonStop process pair.
Worksheet Instructions. If you specify a TCP port number other than 23, record the TCP
port number on the TCP Port Number line of your Asynchronous Terminal Port
Configuration Worksheet. A sample completed worksheet is shown in Figure 8-2
on
page 8-16.
