Configuring the FASTPTCP LAN Print Spooler
Product
To create an entry in the FASTCNFG file, use the following syntax:
DEVICE $device-name
is the device name for the serial printer as it is defined to the Spooler using the
Spoolcom DEV command. For example: $PRT1.
parameter = value
is a particular device parameter and its associated value. Parameters and their
associated values are described in detail in the Tandem LAN/WAN Print Spooler
User’s Guide. The following required parameters must be set as shown for AWAN
access server-connected serial printers:
CONTYPE = TCP/IP-TELNET
specifies the type of TCP/IP connection. This parameter must be set to
TCP/IP-TELNET for AWAN access server-connected serial printers.
ADDRESS = ip-address
is the IP address assigned to the AWAN access server.
PORT = tcp-port-number
is the TCP port number on the AWAN access server that will be mapped to the
physical port where the serial printer is connected. TCP port numbers can be in
the range 2001 through 2064.
NOTIMINGMARK = { YES | NO }
causes FASTPTCP to send a timing mark (NO) or not (YES) at the end of the
Spooler job. This parameter must be set according to the FASTPTCP release
you are using. For FASTPTCP releases prior to Interim Product Modification
(IPM) AAI/AAJ, this parameter must be set to YES. For FASTPTCP releases
AAI/AAJ and later, this parameter must be set to NO (the default).
TIMEOUT = 12345678
is required to disable the FASTPTCP timeout feature. If this feature is not
disabled, the print job might be aborted if the printer runs out of paper or is
operating slowly.

Note. You must specify this port number when you set up a Telnet service for the
serial printer. Configuring a Telnet service is described in Step 3: Setting Up the Telnet
Service on page 8-31.
