Configuring Port Properties on the AWAN Access
Server
This subsection explains the steps you must perform to configure asynchronous
connections for Tandem 6530 terminals, 6530-compatible terminals, VT-series
terminals, workstation-based 6530 terminal emulators, workstation-based VT-series
terminal emulators, and serial printers.
Before You Begin
Before you configure an asynchronous connection, connect the terminal, workstation,
modem, or serial printer to the port you plan to configure and power on your AWAN
access server. Connecting devices to an AWAN access server is explained in the AWAN
Access Server Installation and Support Guide.
Configuring Terminal Connections
The AWAN access server supports local and dial-in connections for Tandem 6530,
6530-compatible, and VT-series terminals and emulators. To configure these types of
connections, you must perform the following steps:
1. Configure modem properties for the port if you are configuring a dial-in connection.
2. Configure line properties for the port through which you want to connect the
terminal, workstation, or modem.
3. Configure advanced line properties for the port through which you want to connect
the terminal, workstation, or modem.
4. Reset the port.
You should refer to your completed Asynchronous Terminal Port Configuration
Worksheet while performing these configuration steps.
Note. Accessing the menus used to perform the following configuration steps is described in
Section 5, Using the RAS Management Tool.
