Configuring Serial Printer Connections
Step 4: Resetting the Port
After you have modified the properties of a port you must reset the port to implement
the configuration changes in the AWAN access server’s operational database.
To reset a port, choose Reset from the Port-Specific Menu. The Port Reset dialog box is
displayed as shown in Figure 8-5
.
Click the check box next to the port you want to reset and then click OK. Your changes
may take a few seconds to be implemented.
Configuring Serial Printer Connections
The AWAN access server supports local RS-232 and Current Loop connections for serial
printers. To configure this type of connection, you must perform the following steps:
1. Configure line properties for the port to which you the serial printer is connected.
2. Configure advanced line properties for the port to which the serial printer is
connected.
3. Set up a Telnet service for the port to which the serial printer is connected.
4. Reset the port.
Step 1: Configuring Line Properties
To configure line properties, choose Properties... from the Port-Specific Menu for the
port you want to configure and then click the Line tab. The Line tab dialog box is
displayed as shown in Figure 8-6
; the RS-232 port connection is being used and is
selected in the Hardware Interface.
