Configuring Serial Printer Connections
Step 4: Resetting the Port
Reset the port following the instructions in Step 4: Resetting the Port on page 8-28.
Step Action Comments
1. Type a name for the Telnet service in
the Telnet Name text box.
The Telnet service name is used for
descriptive purposes only. This step is
optional.
2. Choose a TCP port number in the
range 2001 through 2064 from the
TCP Port drop-down list box.
This is the TCP port number that you
configured for your serial printer’s DEVICE
entry in the FASTCNFG file. Refer to Step
2: Configuring Device Information on
page 8-17 for more information.
3. Choose the physical port on the
AWAN access server where the serial
printer is connected from the
Available list box.
This list box displays the physical ports on
the AWAN access server that can be mapped
to a TCP port.
To set up a group of printers in a logical
pool, assign more than one physical port to a
single TCP port. When FASTPTCP opens
the TCP port, the first available printer is
used.
Note: For ease of management, assign a
single asynchronous port to each TCP port.
4. Click the Enable option button to
enable the port.
5. Click Add>> to make the port active. This action causes the physical port to be
displayed in the Active window.
6. Click OK.
