Verifying a Terminal or Workstation Connection
Verifying a Terminal or Workstation Connection
To verify a terminal connection, initiate a session in one of the following ways:
•
For a local terminal connection: Press the Enter key on the terminal keyboard.
•
For a dial-in terminal connection: Dial into the modem connected to the AWAN
access server port.
•
For a local workstation connection: Start the terminal emulator.
•
For a dial-in workstation connection: Dial into the modem connected to the AWAN
access server port using the terminal emulator.
If you configured the Autoconnect feature, you should see the first NonStop server
application screen or line on your screen. You can use the terminal or emulator just as if
were directly connected to the Himalaya NonStop server.
If you see a Local> prompt and you configured the Autoconnect feature, your terminal
or workstation is communicating with the AWAN access server instead of with the
Himalaya NonStop server. This situation usually indicates a problem with the Line tab
or Adv. Line tab dialog box configurations. Make sure that the Autoconnect check box is
enabled and that you configured the correct values in the Preferred Server (Telserv
Host), Node (Telserv/Service Window), and Dest. Port text boxes.
If you configured manual port login, you should see a Local> prompt on your screen.
Establishing a session when manual login is configured is described in Local> Prompt
on page C-11.
Verifying a Serial Printer Connection
To verify a serial printer connection, use the File Utility Program (FUP) COPY
command on the Himalaya NonStop server to copy a file to the printer. For example:
1> FUP COPY MYFILE, $S.#PRT1
If the file does not print successfully, refer to Asynchronous Terminal and Printer
Connection Problems on page 15-1 for troubleshooting information.
Note. Refer to Asynchronous Terminal and Printer Connection Problems on page 15-1 for
more troubleshooting information.
