Configuring Remote Access Connections
This section describes how to configure the AWAN access server to provide remote
access connections. The AWAN access server’s remote access feature enables it to
perform LAN routing functions for DOS, Windows, and Macintosh computers. The
remote access feature provides three types of remote access connections as follows:
•
Remote-node access enables a workstation to dial into a modem connected to the
AWAN access server and, once connected, function as if it were directly connected
to the local area network (LAN).
•
Remote-office access is the same as remote-node access except that the workstation
can access resources on a LAN elsewhere in the network.
•
Remote-control access enables a remote workstation to dial into the AWAN access
server to remotely control a workstation connected to the LAN.
The AWAN access server supports remote-node, remote-office, and remote-control
access for DOS and Windows computers. Remote-node and remote-office access also
are supported for Macintosh computers.
